6 month alignment uses tooth coloured brackets and wires to treat mild to moderate crowding and misalignment. Brackets are attached to fewer teeth than typical fixed orthodontic treatments for a more comfortable experience. We can assess your suitability for 6 month alignment at a consultation. 6 month alignment can be used to treat a wide range of orthodontic problems from simple to moderate crowding, gaps and misalignment.
Treatments usually take around 6 months, depending on complexity of the case. An estimate of treatment length is given at your first appointment.
6 month alignment braces move teeth in a similar way to other fixed orthodontics via brackets that are attached to the teeth and flexible wires. The big difference is that with a mild to moderate case alignment can be focused on fewer teeth, so movements occur more quickly.
1 Consultation. We’ll assess your suitability for 6 month alignment and plan the treatment that suits your needs and lifestyle the best.
2 Impressions. Moulds of your teeth are taken to make study models to plan your tooth movements.
3 Fitting. Our experienced orthodontic team will attach the tooth coloured brackets to the outside of your teeth. The flexible wires create gentle pressure on your teeth that quickly move them into the ideal position.
4 Review appointments. The braces are adjusted every 6-8 weeks or so. This continues until treatment is complete. Bonded retainers are fitted on the inside of your teeth to maintain your result.
